Some ideas of questions to ask in an interview:
For articles like the teacher spotlight, or any "get-to-know-you" type interview, try to give the reader an idea of who the person is, what he or she is interested in, what hobbies or activities he or she enjoys, and some interesting facts about the person the reader may not know. If the reader only knows the person as a teacher and in a teaching capacity at their school, try to give some personal information about the interviewee.

What do you do in your time off (summer vacations, winter activities, etc.)?
Background or family questions:
Where did you grow up/spend your childhood?
Do you have a family/wife/children/pets?
Favorite subject when in elementary school and why?
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Fun to answer questions:
If someone gave you a million dollars today, what would you spend it on?
What was the most fun (or daring, or adventurous, etc.) thing you have ever done?
What is on your "Things To Do/Learn/Accomplish" in your life list?
What is your proudest accomplishment?
